Overview
Back to topSEO Friendly Images is an extension that renames the images of a product to the full product name, making it more descriptive. Image names like DSC100001.jpg are automatically converted in the more SEO friendly version your-product-name.jpg. This gives Google clues about the subject matter of the image and improves SEO. This also increases the probably of the images getting indexed by Google (and other search engines) which in turn results in more traffic. If you want to attract more customers to your site using Google Images, this extension will help you in this process.
Features
- Easy to use and install
- Extension can be enabled and disabled in the admin panel
- Better SEO score for images
- Automatically names images descriptively
- Original images are not changed
- Specify your own pattern, using variables, that should be used for the file names
- Optimize SEO further by overwriting alt text added to images (also supporting a custom pattern and variables)
Example
Before installing this extension the filename of an image could be something like IMG00102.jpg.
After installing and enabling this extension, the filename becomes my-product-name.jpg. The full product name will be used and converted to lowercase and spaces replaced with hyphens. You can also include the category name in the filename. The filename then becomes my-product-name-category-name.jpg.
Furthermore, for more flexibility you can specify your own pattern to be used for file names. Variables can be used in this pattern. For example, it is possible to specify the pattern '{{product.name}}-{{product.manufacturer}}-{{category.name}}'.
This extension also allows alt text to be optimized by specifying a pattern that should be used. For example, you can enter 'Order {{product.name}} of {{product.manufacturer}} now' and the extension will do the rest.
On product level you can overwrite the general file names and alt texts, also making use of variables.
Note: The original image will not be changed by this extension. Only the resized images will be renamed.
