The DNS Prefetch module improves the load time of your external resources and links the user may follow by resolving the domains using the DNS Prefetching method. It simply adds a meta tag to the head block of your store which tells the browser to look up the IP for a specific domain before a resource is requested or the visitor of your store follows an external link. This saves the DNS Lookup time the browser needs for each resource. Especially for stores which have their media files or other resources on an external domain DNS, prefetching reduces the load time of these resources by 10% and up to 50%. This significantly lowers the overall loading time of your store and increases the user experience. Also the stores which have their resource and media files local on the server can benefit from the DNS Prefetch module by prefetching the domains of the external payment providers, to have a smoother checkout experience.

  • Define the domains to be prefetched
Define the domains which you want to be prefetch in the modules backend configuration
  • Define domains for checkout pages
The module configurations allows you to define external domains which will be only prefetch on the checkout pages
  • Wide browser compability
The DNS prefetching method is supported by all modern browsers. Older browser will simply ignore the meta-tag and not run into an error
