Overview

Using the Payment & Shipping Restriction extension, the admin can assign the specific shipping methods and payment methods to products and categories. This will let the admin restrict certain carrier partners and payment gateways which the admin doesn’t wish to use for particular products and categories. It supports both offline & online shipping and payment methods.

The restriction can be set for these product types – simple, configurable, virtual, and downloadable. Further, the admin can even limit or grant the different payment and shipping methods for multiple categories and parent-child category. The admin can also map the different shipping and payment methods with each other. During the checkout process, the customer can only view the assigned shipping and payment methods to place an order.

Note - This extension will not create any new shipping or payment method on store.

Business Value

Sometimes merchants want to limit the use of specific shipping methods and payment methods per product and category. Suppose, the admin wants to disable cash on delivery option for made to order products and want to receive an advance payment. Or enable specialized delivery service for fragile items or use express delivery for daily needs and groceries. In default Magento, the store owner cannot restrict the shipping and payment method per product and category.

In default Magento, the store owner can only disable the shipping and payment method for the complete store. But Payment & Shipping Restriction extension will tailor this requirement. Now customers will not see all the payment and shipping methods on the checkout. Because using this extension, the store owner can put a restriction on the product and category level for the mapped shipping or payment methods which will be available for the customers while placing the order.

How Does The Extension Work?

After the installation, the admin will enable the module from the back-end. And, then easily restrict the payment and shipping methods for the products and categories as per the choice. The module has a two-way restriction - category wise and product-wise.

Category - Shipping & Payment Methods Restriction

The admin will navigate to the “Category Edit” page and will select the different payment and shipping methods that the admin wants to assign to that category.

Product - Shipping & Payment Methods Restriction

The admin will navigate to the “Product Edit” page and will select the different payment and shipping methods that the admin wants to assign to that product.

Shipping & Payment Methods Mapping

The admin will be able to map the shipping methods with the payment method. If the customer selects the mapped shipping method, then the customer has to checkout with the single mapped payment method.

Note - The admin has to select both the mapped shipping and payment method for the product else on the selection of the shipping method, no payment method will be displayed.

Show Assigned Shipping & Payment Methods

The customer can only view the assigned shipping and payment methods while placing the order. All other shipping and payment methods will be hidden from the customers.

Benefits

For Store Admin

  • The admin can ensure that products with special handling requirements should be delivered with the right shipping method.
  • Mapping payment and shipping will allow the admin to have more advanced control at the checkout by defining the shipping and payment for the customer's orders.

For Customers

  • Prevent customers from using certain payment or shipping methods based on the designated categories.
  • Allows the fragile premium products to be shipped and paid with the standard shipping and payment methods only.
