Back to topBy default in Magento 2, you can not easily optimize product and categories URL per your needs. You can not choose to use a long or short possible URL for products. You can not use a short URL for a specific category (eg. a category URL without parent paths). Also, if you have a product with multiple URLs, all of these pages will become available in the frontend which can cause duplicate content.
Magento 2 Short Unique Category/Product URLs extension allows you to optimize your categories and products URLs for SEO. You can use short, or long URLs for products. You can avoid duplicate content by permanently 301 auto-redirect multiple product URLs available to the main canonical URL.
Also, you can choose to use a short URL for categories by removing the parent path on categories URLs.

Shortest & Longest Product Pages URLs
The Magento 2 Short Unique Category/Product URLs extension allows you to use :
- Product URL without categories path: eg. domain.com/jacket.html
- Product URL with short categories path: eg. domain.com/men/tops-men/jacket.html
- Product URL with long categories path: eg. domain.com/men/tops-men/jackets-men/jacket.html
- Product URL with default categories path: eg. domain.com/men/tops-men/jacket.html
301 Auto-Redirect Multiple Product URLs To Main Canonical URL
If you have a product with multiple URLs, you can avoid duplicate content by permanently auto-redirecting multiple products URL to the main canonical URL. For example, if you have a product with the following URLs available:
- domain.com/jacket.html
- domain.com/men/tops-men/jacket.html
- domain.com/men/tops-men/jackets-men/jacket.html
and that the canonical URL for the main product is domain.com/jacket.html . When you enable the "301 Auto-Redirect" feature, the extension will permanently auto-redirect all product URLs available to the canonical URL of the main product (eg. domain.com/jacket.html). Theses following product URLs:
- domain.com/men/tops-men/jacket.html
- domain.com/men/tops-men/jackets-men/jacket.html
will be auto-redirected to domain.com/jacket.html.
As a result, only one URL for the product (domain.com/jacket.html) will be available in the frontend, which will avoid duplicate content.
Remove Category Path to Product Pages URLs
With Magento 2 Short Unique Category/Product URLs extension, you can optimize product URLs, by removing some specific categories path in the product URLs. You can choose the categories to exclude from the multi-select categories option.
For example, if you have this product URL
- domain.com/men/tops-men/jackets-men/jacket.html
When you choose to remove "jackets-men" category path in the product URL, your product URL will become:
- domain.com/men/tops-men/jacket.html
Shortest Category Page URLs
The Short Unique Category/Product URLs extension for Magento 2 allows using short URLs for categories. You can choose the remove parent categories path on each category URL to make it shortest.
For example, if you have this category URL:
- domain.com/men/bottoms-men/shorts-men.html.
When you choose to remove the parent categories path, the category URL will become:
- domain.com/shorts-men.html
