Catalog Discount In Cart

Overview

Default Magento features 2 popular discount-based tools, namely the Shopping Cart Price and Catalog Price Rules. By their name, you can tell the difference between them. The cart rules work with cart items whereas the catalog rules prefer category and product pages. As a matter of fact, the latter does not reveal its presence on a cart page. The catalog price rules just lower the price of the cart products so the customer doesn’t really get a warm feeling of potential saving. Not very encouraging, don’t you think so?

The Catalog Discount In Cart extension is simple, yet handy. It allows for catalog discounts on a cart page. Instead of lowering the cart products’ prices, it displays the discount information in the cart totals. And yes, this is exactly what you get when using shopping cart rules. The extension adds the discounts generated by the catalog price rules right to the cart totals. At the same time, the cart products’ prices get original values. The trick is to make the catalog discounts, ones available on the product/category pages only, say their final word in the cart following the style of the shopping cart discounts. To say more, both discount types can work simultaneously so the discount-related calculations are always correct.

Features

  • Shows discounts generated by the catalog price rules in the cart and order totals
  • Fully supports storefront and backend orders
  • Able to simultaneously process both Catalog Price and Cart Price Rules
  • Light on system resources
  • Allows for catalog discounts on a cart page
