Back to topBy default, Magento 2 stores all customers cart items and restores them automatically at login. However, customers sometimes browse and add products to cart without being logged. Upon login, current cart content gets merged with any previously stored cart items which may lead to confusion and impact conversion rates.
Clear Old Cart extension will clear all ancient saved cart items at customer login depending on some configurations. In other words, this extension allows a store administrator to decide if old cart will be merged to new one when a customer logs in.
Furthermore, you can also choose to disable old cart merge only for carts that has not been updated for a certain configurable time. You can even choose to disable old cart restoration even if there is no new current cart while login. This is very simple to configure and really efficiency to improve user experience.
Use Cases
Suppose that a customer was logged in on your website a couple of weeks ago, added some products to his cart and let this cart abandoned. Now, he comes back on your site, decides to add some other products to its current cart and goes to the checkout process. As he logs in, he suddenly notices that there is some other items in his cart.
At best, he will understand that these strange items are the ones that he added two weeks ago and will have to delete it before going through checkout process. At worst, he will be totally confused and will think that this is some kind of bug.
This feature will automatically detect and flush old cart items and prevent them from merging with current cart items.
