VAT Exemption

Value Added Tax (VAT) is the consumption tax assessed on the value added to the products and services, mainly in the European Union. Some of the countries offer VAT Exemption on education, insurance, charity funds, and financial services, etc. Also, VAT relief is offered to differently-abled people on the specific category of products such as medical or healthcare equipment, devices for differently-abled people, etc. To implement such VAT Exemption in Magento 2 store, Meetanshi has developed VAT Exemption for Magento 2 extension to facilitate customers to claim for VAT Exemption on the checkout page.

The VAT Exemption for Magento 2 allows the store owner to offer products with no VAT charges! With the checkbox on the checkout page, a user can claim for VAT Exempt using the VAT Declaration form. The admin can easily create and manage the allowed disabilities reasons for VAT relief from the backend.

How Does The Extension Work?

The admin can enable the VAT Exemption module, set the customer declaration notice to show both in the backend and in the frontend, and configure the terms and conditions agreement text and settings to mandate the login while opting for VAT exemption. The admin can create the backend grid to create and manage disability reasons and create as many disability reasons to allow customers to claim VAT relief.

The admin needs to enable VAT exempt for the store products by enabling the VAT Exemption product attribute from the Product Edit. Whenever customers add products with VAT exemption to the cart, they get the VAT declaration form. Customers can claim VAT relief by adding the applicant name,  selecting disability reason, agreeing to the terms and conditions and clicking on the "Apply VAT Exempt" button. Once the customers select to checkout with the VAT exemption, they can see the VAT amount exempted from the order total.

After the users agree for the VAT Exemption, they get redirected to the login page if login is set to mandatory in the configuration settings. Once the customers place the order successfully, the admin can view the VAT Exemption declaration notice in order to view backend under each order.
