Many times, additional information needs to be attached to the orders in order to understand the customers' requirements, suggestions, feedback or any other details. Files such as images, user manuals, PDFs, invoices, logos, screenshots, personalization requirement definition etc. require being added. Meetanshi's Order Attachment for Magento 2 enables the customers and the admin to add order attachment files to the order during checkout and even after order processing.

Order Attachment for Magento 2 allows the customers from frontend and the admin from backend to attach files to orders at any time which behaves like a communication channel. In the backend, order view section is added to a separate tab named order attachment to view all attachments and in the frontend, all the attachment files can be seen in My Account section. Thus, files attached to their corresponding orders makes it easy to find them whenever needed.

The admin can set allowed file types and maximum file upload size to restrict unnecessary files to be uploaded by the users. Also, there is an option to specify the path of attachment files where they would be uploaded and stored.

Order attachment notifications can be enabled for both the admin and the customers so that each single attachment file cannot be missed to view. The attachment files can be sent over the order confirmation Email or as a separate Email.

How does the extension work?

Enable the extension from the backend. Enter the directory path at which you want the uploaded attachments to be saved. Specify the allowed file type extensions. Enter the maximum file size in MB for each attachment.

Configure the general settings from the backend. Select the customer groups to allow uploading the order attachment. Configure the setting to allow the customers to attach files in the existing orders. Also, let customers delete the attachments. Enable the notification to customers when the admin adds any attachments in the existing orders. Similarly, enable the notification to the admin when the customers add any attachments in the existing orders. Configure the setting to allow customers to add attachments from the checkout page. Also, enable the comment box in the checkout box.

Enable the emails from the backend. Enter the admin's name to send in the Email. Enter the admin's Email ID. Select the Email template from the dropdown. Select how you want to send the Email to the customer from the dropdown. Enable to add attachment in the Email.

After the configuration, once the customers add products to cart and proceed to checkout, they get the option to attach files. If the uploaded file is not fit to the allowed type or the size is bigger than specified, they get the error message.

According to the backend setting, attachment can be uploaded from the checkout page. Also, the comment box is displayed that allows customers to add comment related to their orders.

Once attached, the order can be placed and the attachment files can be seen to customers in order view under My Account section.

Under "My Order Attachments" tab, all the order attachments list is found in the "My Account" section in a separate tab.

The admin can see it in Order Attachment tab under order view section.

Immediately after a file is attached with the order, an Email notification is sent to the admin. Similar Email is also sent to the customers. This makes it easy for both the customers and admin to get noticed regarding attachment and make an appropriate action.
