Meetanshi has developed MTN Pay for Magento 2 to integrate this popular payment gateway with Magento 2 to accept online secure payments.
The extension uses Billmap API to integrate the payment gateway. Billmap is an online registration portal to integrate various payment services to offer wallet payments for goods and services. Billmap is used to request payment transactions through the MTN gateway. Billmap is an aggregation middleware that grants merchants access to a mobile wallet platform, enabling merchants to offer the mobile wallet as a payment method to its clients. Account & Pricing
To commence using MTN Pay extension, you need to create a FREE online Billmap account and enter the Billmap Site, RANG, and password in Magento 2 store configuration section for the API integration. You need to contact the Billmap API providers for the pricing plans.
How Does The Extension Work?
Once the admin registers with Billpay for MTN pay integration, he has to collect the API key details to configure the extension from the backend. He has to enable the extension to set the payment method title, select the option to show the MTN logo on the checkout page if required, add Billmap code, enter the password to authenticate the payment requests, set the additional instructions to show on the checkout page, enter the sort order of the payment method and save the configuration.
In the frontend, when the customers add products to cart and proceed to pay through the MTN Pay Payment method, they will be requested to enter their MTN phone number and click to place the order. The MTN Pay payment details can be viewed by the customers in the My Account section. The admin can view the payment details in the order view backend.
Security Features:
Once the customers add products to the cart and proceed to pay using the MTN Pay method, they are asked to add the registered MTN phone number on site and click to place the order. The Billmap API checks for the fund in the wallet; captures the amount and pays for the order. The whole process uses MTN mobile number to process the wallet payments using the MTN phone number and no card details are required to capture payments. A process called Tokenization is used to run transactions with the stored amount in the wallet for the payment.
The MTN pay captures the card data for the first time and saves it on its own server. Billmap API requests the MTN pay for the payment from the wallet every time a customer requests a transaction. The sensitive customer card data is never stored on the Magento 2 server. The extension lets your customers pay with the registered MTN mobile number and thus assures payment security.
