Overview

Remembering long email addresses can be a bit tedious, but a mobile number is something that one can remember easily. Providing alternative login to the default Magento 2 login is best to engage with the users and provide them with the best user experience. Additionally, if they are provided with the security of login, it makes them feel safe.

Meetanshi has developed Mobile Login With OTP for Magento 2 to allow customers to securely register, login, update mobile number, and reset the password using the mobile number after the OTP verification. The extension overcomes the issue of login when the users don't remember Email ID by which they have registered or don't have the Email ID at all.

Using this extension, users can register and log in with mobile numbers and OTP to enhance the security of mobile registration and login. While registration and login, the SMS with the verification codes are sent to the users on their mobile number. It eliminates the possibility of registration and login using fake mobile numbers.

Account & Pricing

To commence using the extension, the admin needs to create a FREE account for whichever gateway he prefers to use and has to buy credits to send OTP verification messages. Below are the 3 gateways supported with our mobile login with OTP extension and you can create an account and have a look at their pricing plans.

Disclaimer

The OTP verification code is carried out using the SMS for which third-party integration of the SMS gateway is required. The Mobile Login With OTP extension is compatible with Msg91, Twilio, and Textlocal SMS gateways. Apart from these, if you are using a custom SMS API supporting CURL, you can add CURL URL using the {mobile} and {msg} variables to pass the values of mobile number and message fields for custom SMS API integration. The format for CURL URL is "https://yoursmsapi.com/sms/submitsms.jsp?user=yourusername&senderid=yoursenderid&key=yoursmskey&mobile={mobile}&message={msg}"

How SMS Gateway is Used?

Whenever a user performs any of the actions such as register, log in, update a mobile number, or reset the password using a mobile number, an SMS with the verification code (OTP)  is sent to him for verification of the mobile number. Here's when the SMS gateways come into the picture. The SMS for OTP is sent using the SMS Gateway integrated with the mobile login with the OTP extension.

How Does The Extension Work?

The admin can enable the extension to facilitate mobile login with OTP in Magento 2 store. For that, he can set the OTP type and length.

He can also configure the SMS gateway by selecting the API provider, entering the Sender ID, selecting the message type, and entering the API URL, and authorization key.

The admin can also test the API by entering the mobile number with the country code in the backend.

He can also set custom OTP SMS texts for login, registration, forgot password, and update mobile number using system variables.

The admin can synchronize the telephone numbers of the existing customers to mobile numbers to avail the mobile login facility.

The admin can set custom form titles for various forms such as Login with OTP, Login with Password, Create Account, and Forgot Password.

He can set a custom image for the form and design it with custom colors for the button and borders as per his choice.

The admin can also display the country's flag in the form while allowing customers to add their mobile numbers. He can select the list of allowed countries and set a default country to show its flag in the forms.

Once the extension is configured, the customers can register, log in, update mobile number and reset the password using mobile number along with OTP verification in Magento 2. For each event, the users get OTP SMS on their mobile numbers to copy the OTP, submit and verify to complete the requested event in Magento 2.

The admin can check the list of login SMS logs with details like ID, mobile number, SMS provider, response, message, and date in the backend grid "SMS Logs". Here, he can select multiple logs and delete them using mass actions and even export SMS logs in CSV or XML files.
