According to 2018 Pitney Bowes Global eCommerce study, 56% of customers were disappointed and the main reasons were late shipment, expensive shipping costs, unfulfilled orders, wrong product shipped, unclear return policies, and poor packaging, as mentioned by Magento.

Keeping in mind the importance of effective shipping process and accurate shipping rate calculation, Meetanshi has developed Matrix Rates for Magento 2 extension.

For example, charge $10 flat rate for lightweight items having a quantity of 5 or above and $15 for heavy items with lesser quantity.
  • Option to offer shipping options based on the postal codes

How Does the Extension Work?

The admin can enable the extension to charge custom shipping rates based on shipping locations, product weight, price, and quantity. For that, he can add a new method to import matrix rates from the backend grid, "Matrix Rates".

The admin can enter the method details, activate it, set the method priority, select the calculation action, store views, customer groups, and upload a CSV to import the shipping rates.

The admin can download the sample CSV file and prepare shipping rates CSV with the reference.

The admin can see the imported rates from the added Matrix Rates method under "Methods and Rates".

He can also download the CSV file of existing matrix rates method.

After importing the shipping rates, the admin can configure the shipping method. For that, he can enable matrix rates for checkout, set the method title, select the countries to allow using the method, and add an error message to display in the frontend for the method unavailability. The admin can also allow free shipping promotions, ignore price and quantity of virtual products, compare post codes as range or regular expressions, use price after the discount is deducted, use price inclusive of tax, and to use only one shipping type for the method.

The admin can create a shipping type attribute. He can create values for the attribute and assign the shipping type to the products to calculate the shipping rates.

In the frontend, when a user adds a product to the cart, the matrix rate method is shown if available. On selection, shipping charges are calculated, applied and displayed in the subtotal on the cart page. Shipping charge also gets displayed in order summary on the checkout page. The customer can check the matrix rates under Shipping Method in the My Account section after the order is placed using the method.

The admin can check the shipping method and charge details in the order view section in the backend.
