    HTML sitemap helps both the shoppers easily navigate your online store and Google index your content more intelligently and efficiently. A combination of an HTML and XML sitemaps is a perfect combo for better search engine indexation and user navigation. With extended HTML sitemap functionality, you provide the customers with a comprehensive overview of your site’s layout.

    For example, if your visitor can’t find the ‘Contact Us’ link, they may click on the ‘Sitemap’ link and get all the important info there. XML sitemap lets Google know which pages are more relevant and how often they get updated. For example, you would like the search engine bots to index specific site pages more quickly. In this case, you just add the necessary URLs into your XML sitemap and wait.

     

    Feature Summary

    HTML Sitemap 

    Briefly, the HTML sitemap will arrange all the site links as a table of contents on a single page. It gives users an overview of your site, helps them better navigate and quicker get to the pages they need.

    Benefits for store owners: improved site usability that lets customers easily orient where to go:

    •  create an HTML sitemap for multiple languages (Store Views)
    • separate the list of links with category names
    • specify how many category links to display
    • sort all product links by name or position
    • include links to any CMS page (About Us, Homepage, Not Found, etc.)

     

    XML Sitemap

    XML sitemap includes files with all site URLs that you want to be indexed in search engines. Thus, you help Google get all the important information about your website faster.

    Benefits for store owners: better visibility and easier navigation for search engine bots which helps them crawl and index site pages faster.

    XML sitemap provides the search engine bots with the following info:

    • priority and frequency of changes for every added link
    • metadata for every URL
    • time when URLs were last updated
    • importance of specific URLs

    On top of this, with the extension, it's also possible to: 

    • NEW Exclude out-of-stock products from the XML sitemap
    • NEW Exclude any Product, Category and CMS page from the XML sitemap
    • NEW Generate the XML sitemap right from CMS, Category and Product pages
    • NEW Automatically disable URLs with specific literal characters

    Additionally, you can use the main domain URL such as http://site.com in the sitemap instead of the direct URL for the main page such as http://site.com/home/.
