Overview

This extension protects your site from any data loss by automatically copying and storing the whole database or particular files on Dropbox. Everyone knows the absolute necessity of regular backups. Everyone also knows the horror of needing a backup and not having it. Regular backups maintain your store information during disaster and keep you from missing sales in a long recovery. A solid, recent backup ensures that in case of emergency you can quickly and with minimal losses get back to business. The Mageside Backup to Dropbox module is an excellent solution for keeping your store information safe and available at all times.

The Mageside Backup to Dropbox module creates different types of backups and sends them automatically to your Dropbox account. It allows you to schedule how often your backup will be created (daily, weekly or monthly), and at what time of day the backup should be created. Backing up to Dropbox keeps your backup in a separate data-center than your webserver, and makes the backup easily accessible to any developer that needs to access it. Be smart, keep all your data backed up!

Key Features

Manage Backup Frequency and Start Time

Backup to Dropbox allows you to easily schedule the time of day and how often to create backups. The time of day is set like any Magento cron process, and the frequency can be set to daily, weekly, monthly or as a one-time backup. After you specify all necessary settings the extension will automatically start creating backups as configured.

Keep Your Store Information Double Safe

Most websites are hosted where there are on-server or in-datacenter automated backups, but these are only safe from issues that do not affect the server or the data center. If there is catastrophic hard-drive loss or datacenter network loss, there is not only no way to access the site, there is also no way to recover the backup. By installing the Backup to Dropbox extension, you can keep a backup in your Dropbox which is copied to multiple data centers within the Dropbox network. Your complete, working backup is always accessible.

Easy to use

This module is very easy to use. No specific programming knowledge is required. Just install, configure and watch your backups begin.

Automatic backups will periodically be created without outside participation

To create backups of your store information regularly, there is no need for an admin to start or oversee the process.

Automatic deletion of old files

Backup files can be deleted automatically after a particular time period if you configure this feature.

E-mail notification for configuration changes, backup creation and start times

The Backup to Dropbox module allows you to receive an e-mail notification when configuration changes are made. It can also send you an email each time a back up is started, and each time a back up is finished and stored in Dropbox.

The option to ignore folders and files during backup creation

Often you don't require to do a backup of all folders and files, you just need to back up some specific files. So with the Backup to Dropbox extension you can select what files and folders you want to backup.

The option to ignore the content of database tables during database backup.

You can select what tables data will be skipped during database backup. It's useful when a database has huge tables with different logs.

The option to use compression during backup creation.

This option is enabled by default. It compresses backup files so they take less disk space.
