Any Currency

The extension is intended to fully replace the entire list of currencies and install a custom currency list with the scope to use not supported currencies like cryptocurrency or some exotic currencies. Using this extension, merchants can easily add any cryptocurrency to their Magento stores to attract more customers.

While the standard Magento configuration assumes that currency codes will be three-letter alphabetic codes (according to ISO-4217), and the standard accuracy (the number of digits after the decimal separator) is set to 2, the extension allows you to use any currency code and set the accuracy up to 8 (digits after decimal separator). This allows the use of currencies such as Bitcoin, which requires increased accuracy (at least 6), or any Ether tokens with non-standard (four-letter and longer) codes.

Currency settings e.g. price precision, rate import schedule or rate import service can be applied to each currency individually.

Accounts & Pricing

For automatic import of currency rates, the extension can use standard services that come with the Magento distribution:

  • Fixer.io (Magento 2.1, 2.2, 2.3) - API key is required. The free plan provides up to 1000 requests per month. Cryptocurrency is not supported, but only BTC.
Additional account is required for either free or paid plan. Subscription plans are listed here: https://fixer.io/product.
  • Currency Converter API (Magento 2.3.x) API key is required. Free plan is available. (This was upgraded in our extension to operate with the latest protocol)
  • Yahoo APIs  - Removed in Magento 2.3
  • Webservicex - Removed in Magento 2.3

We added more free services into this extension:

  • Frankfurter - API key is not required. Almost all currencies (except cryptocurrency) are supported.
  • CoinAPI - API key is required. The service provides up to 100 requests per day on free subscription plan (approximately one request per 15 minutes). It supports over 4,000 crypto and fiat currencies. To get an API key, you must sign up for a free or paid plan here:  https://www.coinapi.io/pricing. Please note that if you use multiple websites, you will need a separate API key for each domain.
  • Coingate (payment processor) - Public access. API key is not required. The service provides both cryptocurrencies and fiat currencies.
  • CoinPayments (payment processor) - Free account is required to get public and private keys to access API. The service provides the rates of almost all existing cryptocurrencies and all major fiat currencies.
  • Bitpay (payment provider) - Public access. API key is not required. The service provides the rates of the most popular cryptocurrencies and major fiat currencies.

The last three services provided by payment processing companies. So if you utilize their service it is possible to show the exact prices of products in selected currencies.

Any other service can be added on request to import exchange rates.

  • Any standard or non-standard currency can be installed instantly.
  • Price precision is assigned to each installed currency. Price precision may vary from 0 to 8.
  • The time interval of currency rates import can be configured starting from once per minute and assigned to each currency individually. This allows to synchronize the rates of cryptocurrencies, for example, every 5 minutes, while fiat currency rates will be imported once a day.
  • Rates import services can also be assigned individually to each currency.
  • A merchant can showcase the supported currency list on frontend including currency specs and description.
  • The layout of adminhtml currency rate page is optimised to fit any number of currencies. See screenshots.
