Back to top

FedEx is an American multinational courier delivery services company headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee. The company is known for its overnight shipping service and pioneering a system that could track packages and provide real-time updates on package location.

FedEx Shipping Manager extension makes FedEx Shipping in Magento smart and easy. It allows the Admin to create and print FedEx shipping labels and FedEx return labels. You also can create FedEx "invert" labels - shipping labels for shipping from customer to shop. You can create FedEx labels in fully automatic, bulk and manual modes. The system automatically inserts Tracking Number into the Shipping Information block of the shipment and sends it to the customer by email. You can set weight and dimensions and create given size boxes for packaging.

The extension can also automatically calculate packages, based on product dimensions and prepared boxes. Use COD and set as default a lot of parameters, including Customer Reference Type, Default Shipping Methods for Domestic and International shipping, Dropoff, Packaging Type Code, Payer, etc. The extension allows you to bill shipment to Third Party Payer and set International Options, print International Paperless Invoice. You can select default currency and Payment Conditions of Duties and Taxes for International shipments.

Account & Pricing

To use this extension you need to a FedEx account and have your own FedEx Account credentials.  Note, that the FedEx account for shipping will not be created during the installation of the extension. Click here for more information.

Using FedEx Shipping Manager, you will pay only fees that apply to FedEx when you ship packages. There are no additional fees associated with this service.

Main Features

FedEx Label Creation

You can create FedEx Shipping labels, Return labels, and "Invert" labels - shipping labels for shipping from customer to "ship from" address. Create FedEx Shipping labels in 3 ways:

  • Fully Automatic mode – labels create when order submitted;
  • Bulk mode - bulk creation from Orders’ page by one click;
  • Manual mode - create manually Shipments and Labels;

Printing, Thermal Printing

FedEx Labels may be created in PNG, PDF or ZPL2/EPL2 formats for Thermal Zebra Printer. You can get labels in many different sizes. Zebra printer can be connected to an admin's computer directly by USB or via the Internet (using IP and Port). For using direct (USB) connected Zebra Printer you have to install a free plugin (2.0 version): https://qz.io/download/ This plugin will print ZPL/EPL2 labels on Zebra printer.

Return Labels

The Admin can create Return labels at any time from the back-end. Created return labels will be available for the customer in his/her account on the front-end. The customer also can create a Return label from his account on front-end, when Invoice is created and Order is "completed".

Shipper Address, Address Book

FedEx Shipping Manager contains address book (Sales -> Infomodus -> FedEx Addresses), where you can create as many addresses as you need. Any of these addresses you can use as Default Shipper address. To start work with the extension you have to enter at least 1 address, which automatically becomes Default Shipper address.

Weight & Dimensions, Packaging

The extension creates FedEx labels based on package weight and dimensions (both are (mandatory). To calculate weight you can set weight for all products, or set "default weight" and default "pack weight" in Configuration. For packages you can create as many as you want "given-size boxes": Sales -> Infomodus -> FedEx Boxes. Then packaging may be manual or automatic, using a special smart algorithm, which distributes products inbox(es) by their dimensions. In this case, dimensions should be set for all products (width, height, length). Also, there are settings to create packages for each product in an Order, to select an attribute for individual shipping and to create packages by product attribute (if some products need more than 1 package).

Rates & Payments

A Shipper or a Third Party can pay for shipping. You can create Third Party shippers as many as you want: Sales -> Infomodus -> FedEx Third-party shippers. Duty And Tax Charges have a few options:

  • shipper pays transportation fees and the receiver pays duties and taxes
  • shipper pays both transportation fees and duties and taxes
  • shipper pays transportation fees and test pays duties and taxes
  • shipper pays transportation fees and {Third party} pays duties and taxes

The following settings are also available: selecting a currency code, COD (Cash on Delivery), adding of Insured value automatically.

You can enable notifications, select notification type, add a shipper email and select a delivery signature.

International Paperless Invoice

You can enable Electronic Trade Documents, set all fields, upload signature and logo as images.

Multistore Functions

If you set up a few stores on one Magento® installation, you can use different FedEx accounts and make different settings for different stores.

Show Shipping Price In Checkout

FedEx Shipping Manager itself doesn't manage shipping methods and can not show shipping price in checkout. In this case, we propose to use both our extensions: FedEx Shipping Manager + IM Shipping Methods to create any shipping methods with any rules and settings you want. And get the correct shipping price from FedEx or set a static price. To get a discount contact us directly. Also for shipping price in the checkout, you can use Magento® default FedEx module, and connect it to FedEx Shipping Manager via Compliance of Methods function.
