Overview

On May 25, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation went into effect. This protects the personal data of European clients. All merchants have to follow GDPR requirements, even if your location is out of the EU.

Any user, whether a registered customer, a newsletter subscriber, or a visitor who has made a purchase only once, provides some sort of personal information to your store. It is impossible to offer your service to customers without collecting, handling and storing their data. So all types of its processing should be secured. The extension comes in very handy to prepare your Magento store for GDPR requirements.

To adhere to legal requirements, you should take into consideration many issues, such as granting customers’ consent, making them aware of your Privacy Policy, safely data deleting and exporting, etc. With the help of GDPR Compliance for Magento 2, you can easily customize your store for being in line with the law.

Anyway, it is very flexible so that you can enable or disable any function according to your needs.

Key Features

  • Use checkboxes on six forms for customers to accept Privacy Policy. They can do it on Checkout, Log In, Registration, Contact Us, Newsletter Subscription and Review forms.
  • Ask customers to confirm an updated Privacy Policy during logging in or via email. Customize the text of a checkbox label or send notifications for confirmation.
  • Choose one of two deleting types. Set Magento default deleting with saving orders and review information or destroy all data with anonymization of the resting info.
  • Let registered and non-registered users export data. Customers can get access to personal information stored about them from their accounts or by using a link in the footer.
  • Check the relevance of personal data. To request revising of the information, show a popup to your customers at specified intervals when they log in.
  • Connect previous orders of a visitor with a newly created account. Transfer all the information connected to the email for the customer's convenience.
  • Show a popup to get consent from visitors for using cookies. It is a customizable notification with a link to instructions on how to disable cookies in any browser.

Get customers’ consent for data processing

Use checkboxes on six forms to accept Privacy Policy

You can add Privacy Policy checkboxes to get consent from customers during their registration, while checking out, logging in, subscribing to newsletters, leaving a review or filling in Contact Us form.

Change the text for checkbox label

In the admin panel, you can customize the checkbox label text. This sentence should be clear and encouraging to accept and read your policy. As well you can enter the text to place as the link for Privacy Policy after its confirmation.

Add a link to the Privacy Policy page on six forms

To provide easy access to the Privacy Policy page, display an additional link on Checkout, Log In, Contact Us, Newsletter Subscription and Review forms. So customers can quickly go to the accepted statements at any point.

Notify customers to confirm Privacy Policy

Send notifications to existing customers and subscribers so that they agree to Privacy Policy. Customers can quickly give consent to it as there is a link to follow in the email. To make the process easier, use templates for notifications.

Easily link a checkbox label to any page in the footer

To connect the Privacy Policy page to the checkbox label, choose it from a dropdown list in the settings. There you see all the pages from the footer. It is much easier to do from the ready-made list than to enter URL of the page. So, in case you delete the ‘Privacy Policy’ page, link the checkbox label to another page.

Make customers aware of Privacy Policy changes

Ask customers to confirm an updated Privacy Policy

You can ask customers to reconfirm updated Privacy Policy. Before it, you tick the box under a renewed text in the admin panel and make settings to show a request for confirmation. When customers log in, they see a checkbox with the link label to updated Privacy Policy.

Notify customers about changes in Privacy Policy via email

Send notifications to customers and subscribers to let them know about Privacy Policy update. Remember to mark the checkbox that the data was updated.

Delete Personal Data

Let customers destroy data directly from an account

There is a personal data management section where customers can delete the account. However, the system can save some data (orders and reviews) in case of default Magento erasing information.

Require customers and subscribers to make a delete request

After you set such requirement, customers should send you a request for an account deleting. Admins receive emails about requests to end the process they need to accept them. Get notifications of deleting completion via email.

Choose one of two types to delete personal data

The extension allows destroying customers’ data in two ways. First, you can choose default deleting, but data of orders and reviews remain. A second option is to erase all data: the system anonymizes remained bits of information.

Set the period of data storage in case of default deleting

By default deleting all personal info is erased except orders data and reviews. Specify the period to store this info in your database. It can be helpful for tax accounts or other purposes.

Receive notifications of delete account request to your email

Specify the email where you want to get notifications of customers’ requests for deleting. So, you will be always informed and not put off customers’ desire for deletion.

Be sure that all users give their confirmation

See the up-to-date list of customers’ consent

You can add a column to grids of customers, which is helpful to see who have confirmed Privacy Policy or haven't done it yet. As well you can check what customers haven’t agreed to the Privacy Policy update. There are three types of statuses: Confirmed, Unconfirmed, Unconfirmed after Update. Using the filter, you can control confirmation and erase info of non-confirmed customers after a required period. You can carry out all data deleting right here, using mass action above the grid.

Delete subscribers not accepted Privacy Policy

Existing subscribers receive an email notification to confirm it. If they do not want to agree to Privacy Policy, they can unsubscribe. Under the legal requirements, the admin needs to delete subscribers’ data. It is easy to do it with enabling this column for subscribers to check their confirmation status.

Allow customers to export and control the relevance of data

Let registered and non-registered users export data in one click

For registered customers add a special Data Export section to their accounts. So they can export info right there to the CSV format. It’s possible to get all personal data or choose to receive only addresses, orders or reviews from a dropdown list.

For subscribers and guests display a link in the footer for a popup to appear. There they can enter an email to get information gathered about them. Admin can choose a contact for data sending and use templates to unify the process.

Show a popup to check the relevance of personal data

Enable a popup to appear when customers enter into account. You set the frequency how often show the request for refreshing of data. You specify the setting once and don’t think about it anymore.

Receive notification via email about requests for export

Enter the email to get notifications of data exporting. Select a template for this message and an email address for sending. So you will know how many requests there have been.

Connect previous orders of a visitor with a newly created account

In case a visitor has made orders from you and then decides to create an account, it will have all the information from his/her email. It’s very convenient to store personal data in one place for both customers and an admin.

Protect children's data

Show a checkbox on six forms to confirm the age

After enabling children data Privacy Policy in the settings, non-registered customers should check the box to say that they are over 16. Visitors can verify their age on Registration, Login, Review, Contact Us forms, as well as on Subscribe Form in the footer and Check Out Form for guests.

Send requests to parents to confirm the usage of children’s data

When customers want to create an account, they need to indicate that their age is over 16. Otherwise, a field to enter a parent email appears. So parents give the consent for children’s data processing.

Redirect customers to the Registration form for age confirmation

If any non-registered user doesn’t mark a checkbox to affirm the age on the required forms, the system will ask to pass the registration. If a customer is under 16 years old, the process will be the same as described earlier.

Add cookie restriction mode message

Show a popup to get consent from visitors for using cookies

Display a popup for customers with a button to accept using cookies. In case they do not want to confirm that the website gets information, there is also a link to a page with instructions on how to disable cookies in any browser.

Customize the text of a cookie popup

Edit the text of a cookie notice to briefly and carefully explain the purposes of using cookies. The popup stimulates clicking on the ‘Allow’ button. As well the message links to your Privacy Policy page, which is a good point for your visitors.

Select functionality that you need to enable

The extension has a range of useful functions to be in line with the GDPR. And it is very flexible and user-friendly. So you can use any part of the functionality according to your needs.
