Chainside is a payment processor for Bitcoin payments, providing software to make the integration of a merchant with the Bitcoin network as simple as possible. Chainside provides therefore a simple interface abstracting all the complexity of Bitcoin and providing an integration experience similar to traditional payment methods.

The Chainside Bitcoin Payment extension is designed to help Magento merchants to accept Bitcoin payments in their store.

By accepting Bitcoin payments you provide an extra option to your customers and get access to a large pool of users you may not have access to traditional financial infrastructure.

When you add the extension to your store, a "Pay with Bitcoin" option will appear close to the other payment methods. If the Bitcoin payment option is chosen, the customer will be redirected to a Chainside checkout page where all the information needed to complete the payment (bitcoin address and bitcoin amount) will be shown. As soon as the payment is received, the customer is redirected to your Magento store and your back-end will be notified.

To use the extension, you  first have to register (for free) on the Chainside's platform at business.chainside.net, where you will be able to create an account and link it to you personal Bitcoin wallet. From you Chainside account, you can then create an object called webPOS which will be in charge of generating a payment order and communicate with your Magento store. From the webPOS settings you will also be able to choose what is the source of the of dynamic exchange rate you wish to use, and how many confirmation of the Bitcoin network you wish to wait before a payment is considered as finalised.

Account & Pricing

In order to use this extension for Magento, it is necessary to first create an account on Chainside’s platform at business.chainside.net. Creating an account on Chainside and start accepting Bitcoin payments is free of charge and does not require any subscription fee.

In its base form, using the service is also free of any fee and it is possible to receive bitcoins on the personal wallet without any intermediation. However, if one wishes to enable the premium instant exchange service to have the received bitcoins converted in euros a conversion fee of 1.5% is applied.

  • Link the extension for Magento to your Chainside account using a clientID and secret.
  • Set the number of confirmation of the Bitcoin network you wish to wait before a payment is considered finalised.
  • Decide whether to show a Bitcoin logo in the check-out page.
  • Choose how the Bitcoin payment option will be described to your customers (the title).
  • Test the Bitcoin payments in a sandbox testing environment.
  • Set the list of countries where you wish the Bitcoin payment option to be available.

Chainside’s extension for Magento only supports Bitcoin payments, therefore no banking data of the customer is ever involved in the process.

Upon checkout, customers are redirected to the Chainside website. The customer enters his or her payment information directly into our secure environment so that the web store never comes into contact with the customers payment data. Once the payment process is complete, customers will be redirected back to your Magento store. No customer data is ever entered into, or stored on, the Magento server.
