Power BI Sales Cube

Power BI is a cloud-based business analytics service from Microsoft that allows you to have a single view on your most critical business data at any time, from any place. With Power BI account you are able to create, view and share your personal dashboards and reports with other Power BI users, access your dashboards on mobile devices or publish them to the web. 

The Power BI Sales Cube extension includes a fully functional Business Intelligence solution with data preparation, incremental data delivery to Power BI Service and with ready to use reports. 

The extension will automatically process and prepare sales data for analytics, and it will deliver this data to Power BI Service. It will automatically update the data with recent orders by configured schedule. Users of Power BI will have access to a sales dataset that includes a comprehensive data model with different measures and dimensions across the sales process, nicely linked together in the most optimized format for Power BI Service.

Out of the box, reports can be loaded from Magento extension to Power BI Service. Connected with the sales dataset, they will provide insights and analytics based on Magento data. 

Once your data will be delivered to Power BI Service, you can:

• Use out of the box reports on Web and Mobile App.
• Create your own reports with a simple drag and drop user interface.
• Connect to your data from Power BI Desktop and extend the data model with your own calculated measures written as DAX (Data Analysis Expressions).
• Share your reports, add bookmarks, set up alerts and many other features that continuously improve with new releases of Power BI.

Account & Pricing

Power BI Sales Cube extension is integrated with Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) to provide secure sign-in and authorization for your Magento store. Before you start using Power BI Sales Cube you need:

• an Azure Active Directory tenant,
• an organizational user,
• and a Power BI service account.

All users, who will be using Power BI from your Magento store will have to be added to your Azure Active Directory tenant.

The extension uses a Client ID to identify itself to Azure AD. You also need a client secret key. Please, refer to Microsoft Power BI documentation for the information on how to set up an Azure AD environment for the Power BI app in and get authentication security token (client secret key). Obtained client ID and client secret key might be provided to the Power BI extension on Magento configuration page.

You can use Power BI service for free or buy Power BI Pro for $9.99 / USER / MONTH. Alternatively, you may purchase capacity based service with Power BI Premium or Power BI Embedded package. Additionally, you will be required to register on a website of the extension developer to get the license activation code for your license.
