Overview

Back to top

Starting on May 25, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (or GDPR) took effect and established rules of how businesses should collect, store, and process users' information on the internet. The GDPR extension for Magento provides your store with:

  • a full set of capabilities to effectively collect customers' consents;
  • the ability to manage groups of consent;
  • privacy policy documentation.

Additional capabilities for users' accounts

According to the EU's GDPR, each registered user must have the ability to control personal data within the website. With the extension, each customer can:

  • download personal information in a CSV file;
  • anonymize all account data and make it unreadable on both backend and frontend;
  • create a request to delete an account.

All requests to remove an account appears on the special backend grid, where the admin user should decide whether to approve or deny each request. When the request is denied, than a customer will receive an email with a notification.

Privacy Policy documentation management

GDPR extension for Magento enables store owner to create the privacy policy documentation, update it, and manage versions on the backend grid. On top of that, with the module, store admin can see all customers with and without given consents on the special grids. From both grids a consent request email can be sent.

There are two ways to collect privacy policy consents from new users:

  • on the registration page;
  • during checkout for new orders.

A special checkbox with the link to the privacy policy can be added to the listed above pages.

Also, the extension provides store admins with a comprehensive activity log, where all actions related to consents and EU's GDPR account actions will be reflected.
