Provide all details of your extension’s features and functionality. Include any updates.

Aheadworks Product Downloads extension for Magento 2 allows the Admin to upload files to the store and attach them to products, enable the visibility of these files on the Store-front and define the groups of customers eligible to download the files for free on product pages.

The extension allows multiple options of uploading files to the store. Such versatility provides for various workflow situations: minimizing the internal server load (uploading files via URL), migrating or replatforming the store (importing product data, including that of file attachments), organizing a knowledge base for a range of similar products (uploading to a grid) and etc. Moreover, the Admin can assign a file to multiple products and attach multiple files to a product. To facilitate the above, the extension allows both setting default file parameters and tweaking them individually.

The data on the configuration of all the uploaded files are aggregated into a grid. The grid helps to monitor the status of files visibility on the Store-front, and speeds up access to individual files.

When it comes to the representation of the files on the Storefront, the Admin is able to set the location of the files block, the name of the block, the sequence of the files in the block and more.

It is a particular feature of the present extension that product attachment files are supported with visual icons - images that can be set by the Admin to each file type. The extension comes with a sample pack of icons, ready for use or for reconfiguration. Icons are assigned to the uploaded files automatically according to their types.

To sup up and extend the above, the key-features of the Product Downloads extension are as follows:

● Uploading files of various types

● Importing/exporting files in bulk

● Associating a file with multiple products

● Attaching any number of files to a product

● Making use of the pre-arranged icon package

● Viewing the number of downloads of each file

● Displaying product attachment files with a widget | API support

Business Value

Product Downloads for Magento 2 helps support your products with detailed specifications, instructions on use, video tutorials, samples, templates, demos and other attachment files - easily accessible and downloadable from the product pages on the Storefront. By offering free downloadable materials with the help of Product Downloads you can inform customers well on the worth and quality of products, increase customer loyalty to your brand, turn your store into a kind of a knowledge base and thereby raise customer traffic.

How It Works

The Product Downloads extension for Magento 2 is aimed for both store Admins and customers. The former upload file attachments, assign them to products, configure the representation of the files on the Storefront and define access to them. Customers see files on product pages and download them, of need be.

Uploading Files & Attaching Files to Products

The extension features the following methods of uploading files to the store:

● via a URL

● transferring files to the ftp-server

● importing files to the store (see the native Magento 2 import/export functionality)

● using the drag-and-drop functionality

● employing the single-file uploading functionality

The Admin can upload files one-by-one and in bulk. On the backend, the Admin can upload files to the Files grid and later attach these files to the products on the Product pages. Alternatively, files can be attached to products (and uploaded to the system) straight on the Product pages.

Files are uploaded to the grid one-by-one via the New Attachment page. This is where the Admin is able to tweak the representation of each file on the Store-front. The default parameters of the front-end representation of product attachment files are pre-configured in the settings of the extension.

Managing Uploaded Files

The data on the files uploaded can be monitored in the Files grid. This table, above all, tells the number of times each file has been downloaded on the Storefront. This statistics is helpful for the Admin to update the visibility of the file, to allow downloading for logged-out customers, to delete the file or unlink from the product.

The page to contain the Files grid also features the Add New Attachment button (leading to the above-mentioned New Attachment page) and the Synchronize Attachments button. The latter is to be used when files have been imported or uploaded to the server - to sort down the database.

Configuring Files Representation on Store-front

To turn file-uploads into file-attachments, and give files a sharp representation on the Store-front, the Admin is able to set names to file-attachments, different to those of the names of the uploads.

Furthermore, the extension allows arranging the order of the files on the list of product attachments, and defining the title and location of this list. It is important to note here, that only one location of the three alternatives can be chosen: sidebar, product tab and the area below the Add to Cart button.

On top of everything, the Admin is able to set the visibility of each file on the Store-front and define customer groups eligible for downloading files.

Finally, product attachment files can be supported with visual icons - images that can be set by the Admin to each file type. The icons appear next to the files both on the front- and back-end. The extension comes with a pre-arranged pack of icons, which are set in correspondence with some most common file-types. The Admin is able to change this correspondence in the settings of the extension. Furthermore, the Admin is able to add more icons and relate the needed file types to them. Icons are assigned to the uploaded files automatically according to their types.
