Overview

Link GUEST Orders & Existing Customers lets you easily link guest orders and existing customer accounts. By default, Magento doesn't allow you to link guest orders and existing customers, even though this is often a required task of the admin.

Before linking the guest order with the existing account, this extension will carefully check to see if the order is a GUEST order and whether or not the customer's email ID matches with the email in the order. The list of orders matching this condition will show up in the customer edit area for the admin, which makes it even easier to identify those guest orders which can be linked. After the admin links those orders with the right customer, all recently linked orders will show up in that customer's order tab in the back-end, as well as in the front-end. It's very easy to use and works without any trouble.

It Works This Way:

  1. The customer checks out as a guest from the front end.
  2. Now, the customer registers to the site and asks an admin to make that order available in the front-end OR the customer was an existing customer from the beginning.
  3. The admin goes to the "Manage Customer" section and simply links that order with the customer.
  4. Now, the customer can see that order in his/her portal from the front end.
  5. Admin will also see newly linked orders in a customer’s order tab in the admin area.

Features

  • A separate tab in the Customer Edit section to show matching guest orders for that customer.
  • Automatically find guest orders that can be linked with the customer.
  • Admin can link guest orders with existing customers if the email of the order and customer matches.
  • After linking, orders are visible in the customer’s Order Tab, from where they can track their order.
  • Guest orders are no longer guests.

FAQ

Q: Why are there no orders showing in the "Relate Order" list?

A: In order to show you the list of orders that can be related to the current customer, the system checks this: order is guest, and the email on the order matches with the customer's current email. If these conditions are not met, the system will not show you any orders on the list.

Remove older version

Magento now validates the vendor name of the extension. This is why I am no longer able to update with the same extension name, ie. EasyMart_RelateOrder. I must change it to match my vendor name. Please run this command before updating the extension:

bin/magento module:disable EasyMart_RelateOrder
