Back to topAccurateTax.com is a solely-owned venture from NetBlazon, a premier provider of e-commerce products and services founded in 1998. Our first venture into online sales tax came in 2002 when we developed a sales tax module for another shopping cart platform. It was called Zip Based Sales Tax, and it gave merchants the ability to charge different sales tax rates by 5-digit zipcodes. At the time, it was a breakthrough for that cart. Before “Zip Tax”, as it was affectionately known, all retailers had to either charge one state-wide rate or ask customers to select the appropriate rate. (Guess how often that worked out?) Even at the time, basing sales tax on zip code wasn’t very precise, but it was a step in the right direction.
It quickly became apparent that something more sophisticated was needed. The biggest issue, one we already knew going in, was that sales tax boundaries don’t really line up with zip code boundaries. They are two different systems, and zip codes were never intended to be used to determine the correct sales tax rate for a given address. But there were other features we wanted to provide, too:
- Relieve retailers of the need to consistently maintain and update tax rates
- Allow support for special circumstances, such as sales tax holidays
- Appropriately handle items that are taxed differently from general goods
- Make the entire process seamless to the shopper
- All while making the service affordable to those businesses that need it
With this in mind, we began working on the creation of a cloud-based solution that would provide accurate sales tax calculations and be easy to use. Today, taxing authorities have store owners’ heads swimming with the need to collect taxes for their state, local, county, city, and metro areas. Tax boundaries aren’t nice and neat! While one state streamlines their tax collection, another does not. But in the end, all the states expect to be paid. This leaves many retailers hoping for the best, but expecting the worst, when it comes to the accurate collection and reporting of sales tax figures.
With our TaxTools and sales tax product, retailers gain relief from ALL the problems mentioned above. Managing sales tax responsibilities has never been easier. AccurateTax Sales Tax allows for your store(s) to integrate with the AccurateTax Sales Tax Service, which allows you to charge the correct sales tax based on the many state rules that exist.

While the AccurateTax Tax module is free, there is a separate paid-for subscription account needed to use the AccurateTax Tax Service, which you will need in order to setup the module within Magento.
